  • The Advanced Certification in Team Coaching (ACTC) is a new certification from the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the top certification authority for professional coaches. This certification is designed to recognize and validate the expertise of experienced team coaching practitioners.

  • Per the International Coaching Federation (ICF), you are eligible to apply for the ACTC if you:

    • Hold an Active ICF Credential
Associate Certified Coach (ACC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC), or Master Certified Coach (MCC)

If you don’t already hold an active ICF credential, the Corentus Team Coaching Core Program can help you earn one by providing ICF accredited training and coaching supervision.

    • Complete Team Coach Training
Complete 60+ hours of team coaching education aligned with the ICF Team Coaching Competencies, ICF Core Competencies, and ICF Code of Ethics. At least 48 education hours must be aligned with the Team Coaching Competencies or the ICF Core Competencies applied in team coaching contexts. Team coaching education may be completed through one or more ICF-accredited or non-accredited providers.

Completion of the Corentus Team Coaching Core Program fulfills these requirements.

    • Team Coaching Supervision
Complete at least 5 hours of coaching supervision with an eligible coaching supervisor or ICF mentor coach with coaching supervision training and experience.

Completion of the Corentus Team Coaching Core Program fulfills these requirements.

    • Team Coaching Experience
Complete at least 5 team coaching engagements within the last 5 years.

The Corentus Client Connections Program (announcing soon) can help you secure and complete the required fieldwork.

    • Pass an Exam
Achieve a passing score on the ICF Team Coaching Certification Exam.

The Corentus Team Coaching Core Program provides support and practice to help you successfully complete both the application and exam.

  • Yes. ICF charges the following fees for ACTC Application:

    ICF Member: $250 USD
    Non-member: $350 USD

Estimated Time for Review: 4-6 weeks

  • According to ICF, “A team coaching engagement includes all activities and sessions completed as part of a team coaching agreement. Engagements can be within the same organization, but with different teams with different dynamics. Engagements are typically longer term and consist of multiple sessions, for example, 4–6, but there is no set or minimum number of sessions or a set time frame.”

  • No, they don’t.

  • Yes, absolutely—and it counts whether you’re getting paid by your team coaching client or doing it pro bono.

  • No, there is currently only the ACTC.

  • Great question. Here’s the response ICF provides on its website:

By earning the ACTC, candidates demonstrate that they have met the rigorous standards of ICF – the most globally recognized certification body for coach practitioners. They also demonstrate the value they offer to teams and organizations through their independently verified advanced skills, expertise and experience.

With the ACTC, team coaches prove they are competent and capable of providing the complex skills required for effective team coaching, including:

    • Distinguishing team coaching from other team development modalities

    • Managing the complex dynamics and patterns unique to teams

    • Partnering with a variety of stakeholders to establish team coaching agreements

    • Supporting teams in the development of effective communication and collaboration skills

    • Partnering with teams to develop a sense of common identity and purpose

    • Collaborating with teams to support conflict resolution

    • Promoting a team’s autonomy and long-term sustainability

  • Yes, you may use non-accredited training to fulfill the ACTC’s education requirements. As part of your ACTC application, according to ICF, you will need to “submit a program syllabus or course outline and provide a brief reflection on how the program contributed to your understanding of the ICF Team Coaching Competencies or how to apply the ICF Core Competencies in team coaching contexts. An ICF accredited team coaching program, by contrast, is “pre-approved,” guaranteeing the fulfillment of all education requirements and accelerating the ACTC application process.”

  • Yes. Recordings of each of the live virtual sessions are a resource for catching up on content in the event of a planned or unplanned session absence, as are your designated Cohort Support and Care Lead, fellow cohort members, and our entire team at Corentus.

If you are pursuing your ACTC and miss live training, you can meet ICF’s requirement of 30 synchronous contact hours by scheduling a makeup session or sessions with faculty for a fee. • The ACTC demonstrates that a practitioner has built core competencies for effective team coaching. The Certificate in Team Coaching from Corentus demonstrates that a practitioner has completed deeper, more advanced training and is prepared to engage and positively impact leadership teams at the highest levels.

  • Successful completion of the Team Coaching Core Program, Team Coaching Immersion Program, and Team Coaching Practicum leads to a Certificate in Team Coaching from Corentus.

  • If you’ve already taken Essentials of Teaming and/or Team Coaching Foundations, the Corentus Team Coaching Core Program is a prefect next step in your development as a team coach, enabling you to build upon the foundational knowledge of your previous training with Corentus while developing additional skills and competencies and fulfilling all of the education and coaching supervision requirements to test for the ICF’s ACTC. Plus, upon completion of the Core Program, graduates of Essentials and Foundations are eligible to proceed directly to the Corentus Team Coaching Practicum, bypassing the Team Coaching Immersion Program, if they choose.

  • The Core Program represents a great opportunity to refresh and strengthen your team coaching skills, especially if it has been several years since your previous training with Corentus. As you know, we are continuously enhancing our tools and frameworks, and the Core Program provides our most up-to-date refinements. In addition, completion of the Core Program guarantees fulfillment of all education and coaching supervision requirements for ICF’s ACTC.
