Rod Harris

Rod Harris is also a mental health clinician (therapist) at the Home for Little Wanderers (HFLW), working with children and families who experience severe life stressors and trauma. Rod specializes in Family Therapy to bring healing to families who, through stressful, traumatic events, experience safety and security challenges in the home. Rod’s role includes working with children and their family dynamics to discover healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen the family relationship. Rod evaluates family roles and how they can develop a robust, sustained relationship by supporting them in processing their reactions to traumatic events by developing emotional regulation management strategies and coping skills to help them through complex challenges.
Before joining the Home for Little Wanderers, Rod was a Missions Pastor. He created, coordinated, and partnered with the Boston Medical Center (BMC) on a program to promote healthy outcomes around men’s prostate health.
Rod worked with leaders from many cultures, offering research, training, consulting, networking, and collaborative outreach and support within and outside the faith community. Since 2009 Rod has worked with immigrants and refugees and was part of the formative team to create the Greater Boston Refugee Ministry. Rod also supported and counseled refugees through an ESL and citizenship collaboration initiative at the New American Center, Lynn, MA. He has chaired symposiums directed at targeting Opioid addicted communities throughout New England and helped create safe and healthy zones for inner-city, suburban, and rural communities experiencing stressors around drug and gun violence.
Rod earned a Master of Science Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy from Eastern Nazarene College, where he was inducted into the PSI CHI International Honor Society in Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Eastern Nazarene College.
Rod Harris is a world-class photographer, uniquely capturing images across a diverse spectrum of subjects. He’s been actively involved as a landscape and sports photographer for nearly twenty-five years and is most well-known in the yachting community for his pictorial storytelling of regatta competitions and sailing portraits. His work has appeared in various books (A Photographic Portrait of Boston and New England), magazines, and periodicals, including The Islander Magazine, MCM, BARCOS Magazine, Le Monde News, and other general Nature and Yachting interest magazines, and journals around the world.
