We welcome and encourage Corentus-trained practitioners to utilize our methods and tools, Corentus Intellectual Property, they’ve received in our approved courses. A course is approved when it is led by Corentus Faculty or an approved Corentus Trainer. By successfully completing an approved course, you have a license to use the course-specific methods and tools provided within that course. If you desire additional Corentus IP, you must either participate in an approved training course that includes the specific Corentus IP you desire, or you must receive special permission by emailing EngageUs@Corentus.com.
If you have participated in and successfully completed an approved course, follow the details within our Courses and Programs Participant Agreement and the Corentus Participant Standards (guidelines for using Corentus IP) as outlined below:
WHAT | Utilize the specific Corentus IP you obtained during a course or program by Corentus-approved faculty or trainer
HOW | Use Corentus IP as intended and with attribution. If possible, without alteration.
as intended | Use best efforts to utilize Corentus IP in the way it was intended and described in the course.
with attribution | Proper attribution is required. At a minimum, include the clearly visible Corentus copyright and Corentus logo on the materials.
without alteration | If possible, use a screenshot of the material, PDF format, or similar method to keep the content, copyright, and logo in the originally intended place.
CORENTUS PARTICIPANT STANDARDS POLICY | GUIDELINES to USING CORENTUS IP
IMPORTANT UNDERSTANDING!
What is third-party IP? And therefore, what is not transferable to another party (person or organization)?
Corentus uses some third-party IP; therefore, we cannot transfer that right to Participants of our courses.
Some IP we use in our materials is not ours! We received specific permission to use this third-party IP and do not have the right to transfer that permission to someone else. All materials that have Corentus copyright on them are considered Corentus IP. If they have third-party copyright (for example, but not limited to Heartmath Institute), they are not considered Corentus IP. Participants will need to contact those organizations to receive permission for any IP that is not Corentus IP.Corentus IP is third-party IP to you (Participants in our courses); therefore, you cannot transfer that right to anyone, including your clients.
Look in your client agreements/contracts. View the IP clause(s). Sometimes your clients identify all the materials you use with them as your IP, and you have a right to transfer that IP to them as a “work for hire.” Since it is not your IP, you cannot transfer the right to them. We also convey a similar understanding to clients when we use third-party IP.
We believe being transparent is usually the best policy. For example, here is some language participants have used to be transparent with their clients:
“I have the right to utilize these materials as I have a license because I was trained by Corentus; however, I do not have permission to transfer that right. You can use the materials, and we hope you use them with great frequency. However you cannot own them — for example, you cannot sell them to others, use them in your own training programs, or place them in your organization-wide LMS unless you obtain a license from Corentus. I am happy to give you their contact information. They are terrific to work with.”
