KEY INSIGHTS |Culture Change
Team Culture and Organizational Culture:
The impact of individual team cultures on the overall organizational culture was a significant point of discussion.
The relationship between individual team cultures and the broader organizational culture was a key point of our discussion. Susan Collins, a community member, articulated a common challenge: how to integrate distinct team cultures into a cohesive organizational culture. The group reached a consensus highlighting the importance of fostering unique team norms while also establishing foundational norms that all teams embrace to align with the overall organizational culture. Both elements coexist and are crucial. Strategically focusing on team-based norms offers an accelerated and sustainable approach to effective organizational culture change or solidification..
The importance of leadership, particularly at higher levels, in shaping organizational culture was highlighted by Julie Lautens, Corentus Chief of Client Services. Julie shared how Susan’s example showed how weak teams or strong EQ teams at the top can negatively or positively impact the culture of an organization.
Corentus Tools and Frameworks:
Corentus tools and frameworks were mentioned on the call as pivotal in enhancing team culture. Tania Beard, a community member, expressed interest in understanding the synergy between the team wheel and other tools, noting their complementary nature. Alexander and Janice emphasized the importance of establishing a common language across teams to define what constitutes effective teaming. They detailed how the Corentus Team Wheel, with its four key dimensions—Common Purpose & Shared Goals at its core, Roles & Competencies, Collaboration & Cohesion, and Mutual Accountability—serves as a blueprint for team effectiveness. By integrating the Team Wheel across the organization, each team, while possessing unique strengths and areas for development, aligns towards these fundamental dimensions. This alignment fosters a consistent, positive cultural approach to working across the organization, streamlining efforts towards enhanced team and organizational culture.
